Under an agreement between Avondale University and The University of Newcastle (UON), students wishing to enjoy some of the Avondale experience may enrol in the Bachelor of Science degree at UON and study some of its science units at Avondale. Students who value our Christian lifestyle are encouraged to select one of Avondale's residential packages.

Undergraduate

Bachelor of Arts (BA) - with science majors
Science majors are now available within Avondale's Bachelor of Arts (BA). The Bachelor of Arts is a three-year degree designed to present arts disciplines within a Christian worldview and to help you understand society and your role in it. The Bachelor of Arts gives you opportunities to develop your abilities in problem recognition and solving, research skills, analysis, synthesis and creativity, critical and reflective thinking, and written and non-verbal communication.

Avondale's Bachelor of Arts provides broad preparation for future employment, as well as a sound basis for those wishing to pursue graduate diplomas and other postgraduate degrees.

Science Majors available within the Bachelor of Arts:
Biological Science, Chemistry, Food & Nutrition, and Mathematics

Science Minors available within the Bachelor of Arts:*
Biological Science, Chemistry, Food & Nutrition, Geography and Mathematics
*Or select strands from Arts, Business and Ministry and Theology


Combined degrees are another exciting and popular option. In four years of full-time study at Avondale, you can combine an Arts degree with a Bachelor of Teaching.

Bachelor of Science/Bachelor of Teaching (BSc/BTch)
The BSc/BTch is for those wanting to teach science or mathematics in Christian, independent and state school systems in Australia and overseas. Avondale's BSc/BTch is a highly practical degree that is designed to provide you with the necessary knowledge and skills for a career in secondary science and mathematics teaching.

Undergraduate Certificate in Science
The Undergraduate Certificate in Science can help you learn more about the diversity of life, chemistry, physics and environmental issues. Throughout this one-semester course, you will have the opportunity to gain knowledge and develop technical and research skills through laboratory programs, field work and industry experience.
